Yes, you did read the title correctly, I agree with Creation Today. They conducted an interview with Joel Richardson about ISIS and Islam and much of what was discussed I completely agreed with.
You knew that coming, right?
What they completely failed to grasp was their sheer hypocrisy when they compared Islam and their Christian faith.
You can watch the video, if you wish by following this link, and I’m sure you will agree that what they had to say about ISIL and Islam was bang on the money.
Some of the points raised were:
- The religion of Islam is dangerous
- The Qu’Ran is a book that promotes violence against non believers
- Moderate Muslims are the first to suffer from Islamic extremists
- Women and children suffer under Islam
- Islamic extremists are the one who follow the teachings of Mohammad most closely
- Islam has a plan to take over the world
- Islam fights to eradicate all other religions and atheism for ‘divinely inspired’ reasons
- The majority of Muslims do not read the Qu’Ran
- Following the the Qu’Ran, the Hadith literature and the example set by Mohammad makes Muslims more violent and hateful
- The Qu’Ran means whatever the Imam preaching says it does.
- Islam is the enemy of freedom and equality
- Muslims are allowed to lie, deceive and misrepresent their faith in order to work towards their hidden agenda
All of the above are valid criticisms of the Islamic faith.
But what was their solution to the problem of Islamic extremism?
Convert them to Christianity and follow the words of the Bible instead of the Qu’Ran.
My problem lies not with those items in the list above being seen as problems by Eric Hovind and his chums, but the fact that they fail to draw the undeniable parallel between the Qu’Ran and the Bible.
You could simply substitute Muslim/Islam for Christian/Christianity, Mohammad for God and the Qu’Ran for the Bible in the above list and it would still hold true.
After all, most of us have seen this:
Does she look tolerant and peaceful to you?
What about her?
We also have this link that shows that most christians haven’t read the bible.
And then there’s misogyny…
And child care skills straight from the Bible:
Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them. (Proverbs 13:24)
He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. (2 Kings 2:24)
So what does that sort of religious teaching cause?
Well… This sort of thing! Children being tortured and murdered.
As for lying and misrepresentation to further their own ends… Remember Intelligent Design? You know, the ‘science’ promoted by creationists that was thinly disguised religious tosh, deliberately designed (aha) to hide the fact that it had no basis in science at all, but was instead, outdated religious dogma.
The Qu’Ran is violent? Really?
“You Ethiopians will also be slaughtered by my sword,” says the LORD.And the LORD will strike the lands of the north with his fist. He will destroy Assyria and make its great capital, Nineveh, a desolate wasteland, parched like a desert. The city that once was so proud will become a pasture for sheep and cattle. All sorts of wild animals will settle there. Owls of many kinds will live among the ruins of its palaces, hooting from the gaping windows. Rubble will block all the doorways, and the cedar paneling will lie open to the wind and weather. This is the fate of that boisterous city, once so secure. “In all the world there is no city as great as I,” it boasted. But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a place where animals live! Everyone passing that way will laugh in derision or shake a defiant fist. (Zephaniah 2:12-15 NLT)
Then, with Micah’s idols and his priest, the men of Dan came to the town of Laish, whose people were peaceful and secure. They attacked and killed all the people and burned the town to the ground. There was no one to rescue the residents of the town, for they lived a great distance from Sidon and had no allies nearby. This happened in the valley near Beth-rehob.Then the people of the tribe of Dan rebuilt the town and lived there. They renamed the town Dan after their ancestor, Israel’s son, but it had originally been called Laish. (Judges 18:27-29 NLT)
(Note that God approves of this slaughter in verse 6.)
And the LORD fulfilled the warning he had uttered against us: against our judges, who governed Israel, against our kings and princes, and against the men of Israel and Judah. He brought down upon us evils so great that there has not been done anywhere under heaven what has been done in Jerusalem, as was written in the law of Moses: that one after another of us should eat the flesh of his son or of his daughter. He has made us subject to all the kingdoms round about us, a reproach and a horror among all the nations round about to which the LORD has scattered us. (Baruch 2:1-4 NAB)
To be honest with you, I could go on all day long with this compare and contrast of the two religions, with lots to compare and very little to contrast. But I really don’t think I need to.
So, tell me again how Christianity is any better than Islam.
